Harry’s Memorial Fund

The reason for starting the fund was to keep our son’s memory alive by trying to help other babies and young children, who find themselves’ in a similar position as Harry did in their early life.

Harry was born on Friday 5th October at the Royal Sussex County Hospital, Brighton, at 10:30 am. He weighed 7lb 10oz. When Doctors examined Harry they could hear a murmur on his heart. He was taken into the Trevor Mann baby unit where the Doctors monitored his condition.

Later that evening Harry’s condition deteriorated and he was transferred to, Guy’s Hospital, London. All of the specialist Doctors were waiting for Harry as he arrived at Guy’s Hospital in the early hours of Saturday morning. After examining Harry they knew that the murmur in his heart was caused by his heart trying to cope with too much blood passing through it. Harry had developed an unusual number of arteries in his head, these were carrying too much blood into his heart, causing one side of his heart to enlarge.

Harry died at Guy’s Hospital, London on Saturday 6th Octoberat 8:30 pm aged 1 day.

That weekend Harry was cared for by some really brilliant, loving and dedicated individuals. It is our intention to raise as much money as we can to buy much needed equipment for:

The Trevor Mann Baby Unit –  Royal Sussex County Hospital

and

Guys and St Thomas Hospital London

.

We hope that through our efforts and with public support we are helping families when their children need specialist hospital care; especially those going through similar experiences to ours.
